Ollie Salter made a big impression as Tottenham Hotspur started the Under-17 Premier League Cup with victory over rivals Arsenal.

The young Spurs starlets emerged victorious 3-2 on Tuesday in their opening game of the Premier League Cup.

Toju Wellspring, Salter and Ashiah Haughton-Sinclair were among the goalscorers as they defeated the Gunners' youngsters.

But it was Salter in particular who caught the eye when he doubled Spurs' lead in the game.

Spurs insider John Wenham posted footage of the goal online, via his social-media channels.

And it even drew comparisons to a modern-day Spurs legend in the form of Gareth Bale.

Tottenham were already leading the game 1-0 thanks to Wellspring's opener for the youngsters.

Salter then doubled the lead in absolutely superb fashion, with a goal supporters will be absolutely wowed by.

The 16-year-old cut in from the left flank, then drilled a wonderful 25-yard effort into the right-hand side of the goal to double the lead.

When posting the goal on his Instagram stories, Wenham accompanied it with the caption: "Gareth Bale yea".

Certainly high praise, but it was a goal for the former Wales ace would have been pretty proud of.

Big praise for Ollie Salter

You always want to be reluctant about putting too much pressure on young players, especially when they are still raw talents.

And Bales was an exceptional talent, who twice won the PFA Players' Player of the Year while with Spurs.

He would later go on to become a three-time LaLiga winner and five-time Champions League victor with Real Madrid.

So, it is an extremely difficult career to emulate.

But why not dream big? Every player has a journey to progress through, and Salter is obviously still at the very beginning of his.

He will need time and guidance to develop, and his first thought will be on how he can ultimately make the breakthrough into Spurs' first-team squad.

If that footage is anything to by, though, then Tottenham have a real gem on their hands.

And who knows? Maybe, just maybe, they have found the next Gareth Bale.
