Tottenham: Lucas Bergvall helps put final nail in coffin as manager set to be sacked
Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Lucas Bergvall helped put the final nail in the coffin for Sabri Lamouchi's Tunisia career.
The midfielder started on Sweden's bench as they began their World Cup campaign.
Bergvall, however, would end up being handed 26 minutes, plus added time, to make a case to start the upcoming fixtures.
The 20-year-old showcased his qualities as he secured the assist for the fifth and final Sweden goal.
That contribution may have been quite influential in the end, amid reports surrounding the Tunisian national side.
The first sacking as a result of the World Cup looks to be on the way.
What has happened with the Tunisian national team?
Sweden and Bergvall's 5-1 rout against Tunisia has had plenty of consequences in Group F.
After Sweden secured their first win of the summer tournament, their opponents, Tunisia, have reportedly made the decision to sack manager Lamouchi.
French journalist, Romain Molina, has shared his information stating that "it's the end" for Lamouchi at the 2026 World Cup.
In the end, Tottenham star Bergvall's assist for Yasin Ayari's second goal has proven to be the final blow for the 54-year-old.
For the midfielder himself, it could also be a crucial moment in the Group F standings. Tunisia were frankly poor against Sweden, but with a new leader at the helm that could change.
An improved Tunisian side could have a better chance at securing a surprise result against the Netherlands or Japan and thus helping Bergvall's nation finish in the top two.
In theory, that would allow Sweden an easier game in the round of 32, but based on the layout, they would face first or second place in the group containing Brazil, Morocco, Scotland and Haiti.
Lucas Bergvall created history for Sweden
Against Tunisia, Bergvall made his own personal history with the 20-year-old making his World Cup debut.
It would have been a proud moment for the Tottenham star and he marked it by notching his name in the storied history of his nation.
As he picked up an assist in the final moments, with that contribution, at just 20 years old, Bergvall has become the youngest ever player to record an assist for Sweden at a World Cup.
So, while his contribution had quite the affect on Group F, he has also written himself into the history books.
Not a bad 26 minute cameo for the Tottenham star.
