John Wenham claims "great things are expected" of Tottenham Under-18s ace George Feeney.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose has praised the 16-year-old for his progress since moving to North London.

Feeney arrived at Tottenham this summer, with Alasdair Gold reporting via Football London (25 June), that Spurs beat out several Premier League sides to sign the youngster from Glentoran.

He has made a bright start to life in England. As a result, The Guardian have picked him out from Spurs in the 2024 edition of their Next Generation series (14 October).

And Wenham - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - believes this will boost Feeney's confidence.

“Feeney has done well this season as a central midfielder,” Wenham said.

“He arrived at the club as a striker, and he’s been developed into a central midfield player. Therefore, this award will be good for his confidence.

“It will help him to settle in more as well. Great things are expected of Feeney and hopefully, he continues to develop in the way that he has done.”

George Feeney to thrive under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham?

Spurs have a host of talented young players. Therefore, having only just arrived at the club, to be picked as the club's standout player in his age group by the Guardian will be a big confidence booster for Feeney.

He's clearly a very talented player who already has some experience of senior football. As a result, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Postecoglou take a closer look at him throughout the season.

The Australian has demonstrated he is willing to give young players a chance. Therefore, Feeney will be looking to make an impression whenever possible.
