Ex-Tottenham employee Bryan King believes Spurs' interest in Tosin Adarabioyo suggests Cristian Romero could be on the move this summer.

As per The Evening Standard (20 March), Spurs are one of several clubs interested in Fulham defender Adarabioyo.

AC Milan and Liverpool are also weighing up moves for the 26-year-old, who is out of contract at Craven Cottage in June.

Adarabioyo has been in fantastic form as of late and Fulham are preparing to offer him a bumper new deal to keep him at the club amid speculation surrounding his future.

In light of Spurs' interest, King believes a move for Adarabioyo could lead to Romero leaving North London behind.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, King said: "Adarabioyo's contract expires in June, so if Spurs are seriously interested they should already be discussing terms with him and Fulham will have to match those terms, which the player could use to his advantage.

"I would have thought it would be difficult for Fulham to match any kind of contract that Tottenham can offer, but how much do Spurs need him?

"They would then have four centre-backs, only two can play. What promises would they be making to Adarabioyo, does any move for him suggest they might sell Romero?"

Could Spurs replace Cristian Romero with Tosin Adarabioyo at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium?

Spurs signed Romero from Atalanta for a fee of £42million (Sky Sports News, 7 August 2021).

Tottenham would likely be reluctant to let the Argentina international go, but his form might have attracted interest from some top clubs around Europe.

Cristian Romero has been in fine form for Tottenham this season

If that is the case, a move to a European giant could prove difficult for the World Cup winner to refuse, and Spurs might already be planning for life without him just in case.
