Barcelona want to sell Tottenham target Ansu Fati in the winter transfer window, according to Sport.

The news outlet reports (18 January) that Tottenham are one of the teams who "count on" and have shown interest in the 22-year-old.

Fati's contract expires in the summer of 2027, and the Blaugrana are open to a loan deal before the 3 February deadline.

Ansu Fati transfer a gamble for Tottenham

The North Londoners will need to be wary about their approach for the Spanish attacker, considering his consistent fitness issues over the years.

Spurs will also be aware that the 22-year-old struggled in the Premier League while on loan at Brighton last season.

In the current campaign, the Barcelona academy graduate has found game time hard to come by, and injuries have played a part in it.

Tottenham already have Richarlison in their ranks, who has suffered his fair share of knocks since his move from Everton.

The North Londoners will undoubtedly be mindful of not buying players with a track record of injuries.

Ange Postecoglou is probably tired of seeing the number of personnel on the sidelines at Spurs right now, with several defenders missing from action.

Tottenham need to be sensible with their transfers in the coming weeks and the priority should be bolstering the defence.

With Dominic Solanke being relied upon and Richarlison's return, Spurs need to focus on bolstering other areas of the pitch.

While Fati was one of the brightest prospects a few years ago, he hasn't lived up to those expectations, which should put off the Lilywhites.
