Tottenham target Angel Gomes has made his desire to leave Lille clear ahead of the summer transfer window, according to TBR Football.

The online source reported [22 November] that the 24-year-old has informed his club of his decision over the last few weeks, with his contract set to expire at the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

It is understood that Gomes will not be leaving the Ligue 1 side during the January window, though the likes of Manchester United and Aston Villa will also be watching the midfielder's situation.

Tottenham given free run to sign Lille star Angel Gomes?

The midfielder has made a real name for himself since leaving Man United in 2020, taking the risk of playing in Europe and becoming a crucial star in an ever-growing Lille side.

He has now played 129 times for Lille, notching nine goals and 19 assists in that time, and has even earned his debut with the England national team under Lee Carsley.

It is no surprise to see Gomes linked with a move back to the Premier League, given how well he has performed in France and on the international stage, but Spurs won't be the only team interested.

Ange Postecoglou's side will need to act quickly if they are to secure Gomes' signature. He will likely take the chance to prove himself back at Old Trafford after only ever making 10 senior appearances.

Of course, bringing another midfielder to the club will likely mean an exit for another, with Postecoglou currently having the likes of Pape Sarr, Yves Bissouma, Archie Gray and Rodrigo Bentancur at his disposal.

To make room for Gomes, however, it would be a small price to pay for such a talented player. It is an added bonus that his current deal is set to expire at the end of the season.
