Tony Cascarino believes Brazillian striker Richarlison is holding Tottenham back and the club should be looking to add to their forward line in January.

While speaking live on talkSPORT (15 October), Cascarino shared his thoughts on Spurs' title chances this season and implied that it would be difficult to mount a serious challenge with Richarlison leading the line.

"I think they would be (in the title race) if they could hang in there until Christmas and they make a signing that adds more to their forward line," Cascarino said.

"Unless Richarlison finds a period of his game where he just improves to a different level, he is the one that is vulnerable at the moment in that forward line.

"There has to be more from him."

Alan Hutton spoke to Tottenham News about the striker situation at Spurs:

"A striker is going to cost you a lot of money, whether Tottenham have it to spend I'm not sure, so that might fall into Richarlison's favour.

"Kane leaving was obviously difficult for the team to take, but they've handled it well if you look at the performances so far, so I think if they could go and get that natural number nine who's going to score 20-plus goals a season, then it definitely makes them better.

"It definitely puts them right up there and challenging, I am not going to say for the league but obviously for top four year in, year out and I think that's the next level they need to go to, so if they can bring someone like that in I think they're a real threat."
