Thomas Frank has ‘gentleman’s agreement’ as Tottenham sack Postecoglou

Thomas Frank appears to be Daniel Levy’s top target to become the next Tottenham manager.

With Ange Postecoglou set for the sack, the Spurs chairman is on the hunt for a new man in the dugout. 

Levy has become “increasingly convinced” that Frank should be the Tottenham manager.

The Dane’s experience in the Premier League, combined with his ability to develop players, has impressed the Spurs hierarchy. 

 However, Tottenham have now been dealt a serious blow in their hopes to appoint the Brentford boss.

Frank had agreed to stay at Brentford amid £10m compensation package 

Frank has been at Brentford since 2018 and has led the London club from the Championship to potential European candidates. 

However, according to the Mirror (6 June), the Dane had agreed to stay at the Bees. 

The report claims that there is a belief that Frank has a “gentleman’s agreement” with Brentford to stay at least one more season despite the interest.

The 51-year-old has two years left on his contract, which he signed back in 2022. 

However, if Tottenham were to test Frank’s resolve, Levy would have to pay a staggering bill in excess of £10m to bring in the Bees manager. 

Levy has to commit to Frank appointment 

While it is currently unknown if Frank will have his head turned by Tottenham, if he is interested Levy cannot back down.

The Tottenham chairman clearly has the Dane as his top target and cannot be put off by the £10 million compensation fee. 

It will no doubt be a big risk to bring in Frank, who has never managed a club of Spurs’ size before in his lifetime. 

However, if Levy believes he is the one to take Tottenham back into the top six, he has to commit resources to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
