Supercomputer predicts where Tottenham will finish in 25-26 Premier League table after loss vs Chelsea

Thomas Frank is starting to face questions after Tottenham's defeat to Chelsea on Saturday.

Tottenham's dismal 1-0 defeat to Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 1 November was one fans should've seen coming.

Indeed, Chelsea at home back in November 2023 was where it all went wrong for Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham, and Frank could be no different.

However, if you asked the 52-year-old, he'd probably tell you that he's determined to break the cycle.

Tottenham's top-four hopes edge further away

Tottenham are somehow now predicted to finish 11th in the Premier League this season, according to Opta's Supercomputer.

While not quite the 17th fans saw last season, that finish for a so-called big-six side would be massively unacceptable.

  • Tottenham are set to finish with 55.33 points on average
  • The Lilywhites have a 0.24 per cent chance of becoming title winners

Spurs' UEFA Europa League win last season earned them UEFA Champions League qualification this season.

However, Tottenham will need to pull off something spectacular because they currently have a 10.78 per cent chance of Champions League football again next season.

With the Lewis family prioritising Spurs' sporting success, one is left to imagine how much will be too much for Joe Lewis moving forward.

As a result, pressure will be on Frank to deliver a better set of results.

Thomas Frank cannot afford to wait

Frank was dealt a bad set of hands with both James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski out injured.

The two are arguably Spurs' best creators, and this time, there's no Son Heung-min to carry the load.

Xavi Simons arrived at Tottenham to help lessen this burden, but the Dutch international has struggled to perform since his transfer.

While adapting to the pace and physicality of the Premier League are obvious issues, Frank has not set Spurs up in a manner to accommodate Simons.

Indeed, there is no use having one of his best central creators playing on the left wing or deep in the midfield.

This has forced the Lilywhites to rely on Mohammed Kudus to make this happen, which has become bland and predictable.

As a result, Frank has no time to wait for Maddison or Kuluseveski to return; he has to find an answer now, and Simons may be the solution.
