Tottenham will be hoping to win the UEFA Champions League for the first time in their history this season.

Tottenham's win in the UEFA Europa League ended their 17-year trophy drought as well as earning them Champions League qualification.

Spurs fans were certain that Ange Postecoglou would be the one to lead them in Europe for a second season. However, Thomas Frank replaced Postecoglou at Tottenham, who will now coach fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest.

With Frank at the helm, the Lilywhites will be hoping to taste European glory once again.

Supercomputer predicts 1 per cent Champions League victory for Tottenham

While the Lilywhites will reunite with PSG after Spurs' defeat in the UEFA Super Cup final, they will also face Bodo/Glimt for the second consecutive season. Villarreal and Borussia Dortmund are also among the teams the North London club will face.

Mathys Tel was left out of Frank's league phase group. But it seems Spurs may need all the help they can get over the course of the competition.

According to Opta Supercomputer on Tuesday, 19 September, Tottenham have a 1.1 per cent chance of winning the Champions League.

  • The Lilywhites have a 22.9 per cent chance of qualifying for the quarter-finals
  • Spurs have an 8.5 per cent chance of making the semi-finals and a 2.8 per cent chance of making the finals

Meanwhile, Liverpool are the favourites to win the competition with a 20.4 per cent chance, and Arsenal are second with 16 per cent.

Thomas Frank will need to rely on his Academy players

Frank will need to put a huge emphasis on rotation if Spurs are going to go far in the Champions League this season.

As such, he may need to dip into Tottenham's Academy to ensure his senior players are well rested. Luca Williams-Barnett is one player Frank could debut over the course of the season.

But with the season long and Spurs currently competing in all competitions, several more could be given the nod. As such, Tottenham fans could see many of their Academy gems take centre stage this season.
