Manchester United would be interested in signing Netherlands international Micky van de Ven, Tottenham News understands.

Spurs signed van de Ven from Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg last summer for an initial fee of £34.5million with £8.5million in add-ons included in the deal (Sky Sports News, 8 August 2023).

Ange Postecoglou has relied heavily on van de Ven in the Premier League, with the 22-year-old impressing during his debut season in England's top flight.

He has been first-choice whenever he has been fit, forming a formidable partnership alongside Argentina international Cristian Romero.

After picking up an injury in the 4-0 win against Aston Villa (10 March), van de Ven was unavailable against Fulham last time out (16 March), with Spurs losing 3-0 at Craven Cottage, demonstrating the defender's importance to Postecoglou's side.

And it appears that his form has attracted the attention of some of Europe's biggest clubs, as a recruitment source with close links to Spurs has revealed to Tottenham News that there will be a few sides interested in van de Ven ahead of the summer.

Tottenham News has been told that one of those clubs is their Premier League rivals Manchester United.

It has been explained that the Red Devils would "bite Tottenham's hand off" to sign van de Ven if the opportunity presented itself.

Micky van de Ven has been a standout performer for Tottenham this season

After emerging through the ranks at FC Volendam in the Netherlands, where he played 48 times for the club's senior side, van de Ven moved to Germany and Wolfsburg, where he made 41 appearances in total.

Since his arrival in North London, van de Ven has made 20 appearances for Tottenham, scoring once so far during a 1-0 victory over Luton Town at Kenilworth Road (7 October).

His time in the Premier League has allowed him to establish himself on the international stage, with his impressive form earning him a call-up to the Dutch national team where he made his debut off the bench in a 2-1 defeat to France (13 October 2023).
