Atletico Madrid would be one of the favourites to sign Pedro Porro if the right-back were to return to Spain, Tottenham News has been told.

Spurs signed Porro from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon in January 2023, initially on a six-month loan deal which included an obligation to make the move permanent for £40million (via The Athletic, 31 January 2023).

After a shaky start in North London, Porro has established himself as a first-team regular this season under Ange Postecoglou, excelling as an inverted right-back.

Porro has seven assists this season for Spurs, with only Son Heung-min having provided more at the club with eight.

His impressive form is likely to attract interest from clubs around Europe, and Porro recently admitted that he would be open to returning to Spain, having previously played at senior level for CF Peralada, Girona and Real Valladolid.

A recruitment source with close links to Spurs has exclusively revealed to Tottenham News that if Porro were to return to his native country, Atletico Madrid would be the most likely destination.

Diego Simeone's side are currently fifth in La Liga, one point behind Athletic Bilbao and seven points behind Porro's former side Girona, as they look to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for a 12th consecutive season.

Porro has made 44 appearances since arriving in North London, scoring four times while providing 11 assists.
