Son Heung-min could leave Tottenham on a high note after winning the UEFA Europa League.

Son was not at his best last season despite contributing to over 20 goals for Tottenham.

Long gone are the days when the South Korean would bypass his man on the wing with his quick acceleration. Even when one-on-one in front of goal, Son finds it difficult to find the back of the net.

As a result, Son could now leave Tottenham after a decade in North London, but not before he has the opportunity to lift one more trophy with the Lilywhites.

Son to leave after UEFA Super Cup final

As reported by GiveMeSport (28 July), LAFC are advancing in talks to sign Son this summer.

It is understood that the 33-year-old will engage in talks with Thomas Frank once Spurs return from their tour of South Korea and Hong Kong. While Tottenham are content to keep Son, they are not expected to prevent him from leaving.

Son's form has steadily declined

As such, Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – believes his departure will take place towards the end of August.

“I think LAFC would be a good move for Son,” Wenham said.

“That has been widely reported, and what we’ve seen at the moment is that won’t happen until after Tottenham's tour of Asia. I'd also like him to be available for the Super Cup as well.

“Therefore, we’re probably looking at the end of August, but if you ask me now, I do think Son will leave Tottenham this summer. And that's fine.

“I think he goes out on a high, he goes out as a real club legend, so many phenomenal moments, goals against all the big teams, and he's a proper modern-day Tottenham legend and rightly so.”

Son should decide his future

Few players at Tottenham have earned the right to decide their future at the club, and Son is one of them.

The Spurs skipper has remained loyal to the Lilywhites when others left in search of glory elsewhere. Therefore, after ten years of exceptional service in North London, Son deserves to write his next chapter.
