Dominic Solanke has sent a message to a long-term Tottenham target days before the summer transfer window opens for business.

Tottenham are enduring their worst-ever Premier League campaign, suffering their 21st defeat in the competition after losing 2-0 against Aston Villa at Villa Park on Friday (16 May).

Therefore, to avoid a repeat of this next season, the Lilywhites will be looking to make big moves.

While Ange Postecoglou and his players look forward to the UEFA Europa League final against Manchester United on Wednesday (21 May), Daniel Levy is under pressure to search for reinforcements and get things right this summer.

However, it seems Solanke is doing his best to give his chairman a helping hand.

Solanke sends message to Angel Gomes

Tottenham have long been linked with a move for Gomes.

The 24-year-old has confirmed via his official Instagram account (19 May) that he will leave Lille this summer, with his contract set to expire on 30 June.

Gomes was important for Lille before injuries dampened his season

Among the many comments was one from Tottenham striker Solanke, who replied with two simple emojis, one representing his hands raised, as well as a white heart.

Gomes' stand-out performances in France earned him an England call-up last summer, and since his debut in September, the midfielder has registered four caps for the Three Lions.

Tottenham should seize the opportunity to sign Gomes

Midfield injuries mean that Postecoglou will be without James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski when Tottenham take on Manchester United at the Estadio de San Mamés on Wednesday.

While this is hardly ideal, injuries have been an issue that Postecoglou has needed to overcome this season.

Despite criticism of the Australian's inability to adapt, he has still managed to drag his side to Spurs' sixth European final in their history, but he should not need to make such large provisions.

Tottenham need midfield reinforcements if they want to compete for all trophies next season, and Gomes presents a solid, cost-effective option.
