Tottenham are targetting a move for FC Copenhagen wonderkid Roony Bardghji, but face competition from top Premier League sides for his signature, Tottenham News has been told.

Bardghji has started 14 of his side's 17 league games this season in Denmark's Superliga, scoring seven goals so far in the competition.

The 18-year-old featured in three of the club's six UEFA Champions League matches and scored a late winner in the memorable 4-3 win over Manchester United, a victory which helped Copenhagen seal qualification to the Round of 16 at the expense of the Red Devils in Group B.

The Sweden Under-21 international has 11 goals in all competitions this season playing as a right-winger, and his impressive displays have caught the eyes of some of Europe's elite.

A recruitment source with links to Spurs and Danish football has told Tottenham News that the north London club are eyeing a move for Bardghji, who has been likened to Lionel Messi and Diego Maradona by a scout who watched him play live.

However, Ange Postecoglou's side face stern competition, with Liverpool, as well as both Manchester United and Manchester City, also chasing the youngster's signature.

Tottenham News has been told that Bardghji is a player with plenty of potential who could fit in well at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Postecoglou's system relies heavily on wide players, who are offered the chance to shine in the possession-based, front-foot style of football.

Spurs have already added one player who can operate out wide to their ranks in January, recently announcing the signing of former Chelsea and current RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner on a six-month loan deal (Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 9 January).
