Randal Kolo Muani's France omission was the right call as damning Tottenham figures emerge
Randal Kolo Muani's form at Tottenham Hotspur has not been deemed enough for France's World Cup squad.
Didier Deschamps has named his 26-man squad for the competition, and the Spurs man does not feature in it.
The Paris Saint-Germain loanee has not proved himself to his international manager in his time in North London.
He has featured regularly for Roberto De Zerbi's side, especially in the Italian's time in charge, but he will not be able to repeat his 2022 antics, which saw him score in the semi-final and assist in the final.
Tottenham News assesses whether Kolo Muani's omission was the right call, or whether he deserved to be called up.
How has Kolo Muani performed for Tottenham?
Kolo Muani has made 28 league appearances for Tottenham, but he has only managed to notch one goal and one assist in the league, with a total of five goals and four assists in all competitions.
He averages a goal every 1584 minutes, 0.7 shots and has a 5 per cent conversion rate, per Sofascore, which are damning figures for a striker.
In terms of his creativity, he has worked a total of two big chances in those matches and averages 0.7 key passes, which again, does not help his case.

He does help out defensively, with one tackle per game, 2.3 ball recoveries per game and 0.6 clearances per game, but that is clearly not enough to sway Deschamps.
Is Kolo Muani omission the right call?
It is the right call not to take him to the tournament, as he simply has not been good enough for Spurs.
It would have been a huge gamble, given his lack of goals and assists in North London this season, and you can't blame Deschamps for making the call.

If he had been in brilliant form, scoring and assisting plenty, then it may have been a controversial one, but given how he has performed in N17, that is not the case.
There is an argument to be made, that he would have been a solid option off the bench, but Deschamps clearly feels that Jean-Philippe Mateta and Marcus Thuram are better options.
The former has notched 14 goals and three assists, while the latter has 18 goals and nine assists, both better than the Spurs man's returns, so it makes sense that he is omitted.
