Radu Dragusin should get fresh Tottenham chance as emotional new message sent
Radu Dragusin has vowed that being able to represent Tottenham Hotspur is something he'll "never take for granted" moving forward.
The 24-year-old has had a horrid time with injuries since moving to Spurs in January 2024.
February 2025 saw him suffer a nasty ACL injury in his right knee during a Europa League game with Elfsborg, causing him to miss the best part of the next 12 months.
In total, that injury would rob him of 59 matches across both his domestic career with Tottenham and at international level with Romania respectively.
He was limited to just 11 competitive appearances for the Lilywhites in 2025-26, ensuring he's played just 48 times in all competitions since making the move to N17.
As a result of this, there has been a growing feeling that the former Genoa star may be on his way out of North London in the near future, potentially even this summer.
What did Radu Dragusin say on his 2025-26 season?
Dragusin has always been a player to wear his heart on his sleeve, with his combative approach enjoyed by many Tottenham supporters.
However, a combination of those aforementioned injury issues as well as fierce competition in central defence has pushed him to the relative fringes of the squad.
Contracted with Spurs until the summer of 2023, there is still plenty of time for the Romanian to make a success story out of his Tottenham transfer though.
Judging by what he's wrote to his followers on Instagram, it would appear as though he's set on making that a reality as well.
"The 2025/26 season reminded me just how much football means to me," Dragusin wrote.
"After a long period on the sidelines, being back on the pitch with my teammates, wearing the Spurs and Romania shirt again, was something I’ll never take for granted.
"Doing what I love most felt even more special after everything it took to get back. A huge thank you to everyone who supported me.
"Your messages, encouragement and belief meant more than you know."
How good were Dragusin's underlying stats in 2025-26?
Dragusin may well have only made 10 Premier League appearances culminating in 515 minutes of league action last season, but he didn't waste them.
As per FotMob, his 2.80 interceptions per 90 were the most of any Premier League centre-back in 2025-26.
Meanwhile, his 13.1 defensive contributions per game ranked him in the top 2.2 percentile of his positional peers.
On top of that, Dragusin's 1.40 blocked shots and 8.04 clearances per 90 placed him in the top 4.4 per cent of his top-flight centre-back rivals respectively.
He finished the campaign with a 100 per cent dribble success rate, whilst winning 3.32 aerial duels and taking 1.57 touches in the opposition box per game as well.
So, still just 24 and with four years left on his current contract, perhaps those writing Dragusin off at Tottenham may want to hold fire on that, as he could come to life in 2026-27 if he stays fit.
