Pedro Porro was unfortunate in some respects as Tottenham defeated Newcastle United 4-1 in the Premier League on Sunday (10 December).

Unfortunate in the sense that a double for under-fire striker Richarlison and a barnstorming performance from captain Son Heung-min took some of the limelight away from what was a fantastic performance from the Spanish right-back.

Indeed his assist for Richarlison's second, a glorious ball over the top of the visiting defence, was spectacular and had Jamie Redknapp gushing on Sky Sports after the game.

"This pass, this little ping here is beautiful, the flight of it, the delivery it's on a sixpence," he said.

"You can see here he makes an angle there Pedro Porro but that pass has to be perfect over Lascelles; head. That technique is beautiful, look at the flight of it, that's so good.

"It reminds you of when you see a quarterback every now and again they just get into the pocket and they can just see the ball, the flight of it is so perfect and that's exactly what that pass was and you can see the respect, all the players went over to him a great pass.

"He is looking like a really good player right now. That's a big performance for him, not just today but all season and again the manager deserves a lot of credit for what he's done with him."

Redknapp was absolutely right to be waxing lyrical over what was an absolutely outstanding showing from Porro.

He managed three key passes, certainly no mean feat for a full-back, a tally beaten only by attackers Son (4) and Dejan Kulusevski, with one them leading to a 'big chance' being created, in stats provided by SofaScore.

Only Yves Bissouma (86) tallied more than his 79 touches and three of his six long passes were accurate.

But defensively too Porro did his part, making three tackles, a clearance and an interception, while winning five of his seven duels.

He did give possession away a team-high 18 times but to play in an Ange Postecoglou side, you have to be brave on the ball and be willing to mistakes.

All in all, it was a fantastic outing from Porro, who deservedly drew the plaudits.
