Bryan King claims Lucas Bergvall will be pushing for a first-team place at Tottenham next season.

The ex-Spurs scout feels that pre-season will offer the 18-year-old the opportunity to make an impression on Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs signed Bergvall from Djurgarden for a fee approaching £8.5million (via BBC Sport, 2 February).

He has now joined up with his new side ahead of the 2024/25 campaign getting underway and has been pictured in pre-season training via Spurs' official X (8 July).

And King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - believes the midfielder will be looking to make a big impression.

"He will aim to push for a first-team place this season," King said.

"His job is to get his head down, work hard, and make sure that Postecoglou thinks he is ready to play regularly this season.

"And there is no reason why he won't be in the first team. He certainly wouldn't be the first 18-year-old to break through into the first-team.

"Pre-season will offer him a fantastic opportunity to make an impression as well. He needs to make sure he makes an impression with his attitude regarding the way he works in training."

Will Lucas Bergvall play regularly under Ange Postecoglou at Tottenham?

Bergvall is obviously a talented player.

And while he is still young, there is no reason why he won't be able to break onto the scene in North London.

At the age of 18, he is already far more experienced than other players his age, having represented Sweden at international level.

He will therefore be keen to make an instant impact, and supporters will no doubt be excited to catch a glimpse of him during pre-season.
