Daniel Levy looks intent on seeing through his promise of backing Thomas Frank at Tottenham.

The Lilywhites have historically been critical of the chairman's approach to transfer windows gone by, often attributing their relative struggles to his unwillingness to spend appropriately for top targets.

Early indications show that the 63-year-old looks to have turned a new leaf, with Vinai Venkatesham's influence already showing as the two shared a rare interview in which Levy boldly stated that everything the club do is geared towards the team.

Tottenham's approach for Mohammed Kudus is a clear indicator of this change in direction, with Levy hoping to secure a favourable deal for the North London club.

West Ham to consider offer below Kudus's £85m release clause

Kudus struggled to replicate his excellent first year in the Premier League as West Ham flattered to deceive last season.

Two managerial changes and a poor campaign overall for the Hammers saw the Ghana international cut a frustrated figure as he made only seven direct goal contributions in the league.

His stock remains high, but Levy looks set to capitalise on the situation and has made an enquiry for the 24-year-old, as reported by The West Ham Way (19 June).

The former Ajax forward's £85million release clause is above Tottenham's valuation, but the Irons are willing to consider selling their prized asset for less.

The North London club are hoping for a deal closer to £50million, and Levy hopes his initial bid could unsettle Kudus enough for the player to push for a move.

Kudus perfect fit for Tottenham

Spurs have no shortage of wide attacking options, but few have the direct ball-carrying qualities that Kudus possesses.

According to Fotmob, Kudus completed the third highest number of dribbles per 90 minutes in the Premier League last season, having been second the season before.

This is a direct contrast to Son Heung-min and Brennan Johnson, whose qualities are more focused on goal scoring from the wide areas.

Kudus' unique ability would bring a completely new dimension to Spurs, and could vastly improve Thomas Frank's front line as he prepares for a new era in N17.
