James Maddison could potentially see his time at Tottenham ending as work is being done on a new transfer in N17.

The former Leicester City midfielder won over the Spurs fans last season after making an immediate impact for them.

In the current campaign, the 28-year-old has found life difficult at the Lilywhites, and supporters have also been left frustrated with his lack of influence in recent months.

Ange Postecoglou doesn't seem to trust Maddison, as the England international is often substituted before the end of games.

Tottenham already working on Maddison replacement

Maddison started for Spurs against Manchester City and was poor for most of the game before being replaced by Timo Werner in the 82nd minute.

While the 28-year-old has a decent goalscoring record in the current campaign, his overall displays have failed to convince many fans.

It wouldn't be surprising if Daniel Levy elected to cash in on the Englishman next summer to fund a replacement transfer.

Tottenham scouts have already started work on Como attacking midfielder Nico Paz, according to TBR Football.

Paz to replace Maddison under Postecoglou

The news outlet reports (27 February) that Spurs scouts have been impressed by the 20-year-old after his impressive campaign in Serie A.

Cesc Fabregas has heavily relied on the former Real Madrid youngster, who had caught the eye at the North London outfit during his time in Spain.

Maddison needs to step up at Spurs, as failure to do so could see the Lilywhites part ways with him in the coming months.

The England international could seemingly be part of the exodus at the North London outfit next summer if they decide to revamp their squad after a poor campaign.

Son Heung-min has found life difficult at Spurs, and a changing of the guard could be on the horizon in N17.

Postecoglou already doesn't seem to fancy Maddison, and he may be the first the Australian manager axes if things don't get drastically better for the Lilywhites.

Man City ended Spurs' two-game win streak on Wednesday (26 February), with AZ Alkmaar up next for the North Londoners on 6 March.
