Bryan King has insisted that Brentford striker Ivan Toney would walk straight to Tottenham for a new transfer before 30 August.

The ex-Spurs scout believes that the club are messing around chasing wide players again when it is clear that a striker should be the main priority.

It comes after transfer links emerged to Juventus winger Federico Chiesa, with Florian Plettenberg reporting that agent talks have started.

"One of the priorities for Tottenham since Harry Kane left has been a striker," he exclusively told Tottenham News.

"I can't see why they're messing around with wide players, they've got them, Johnson, Kulusevski and Son.

"I'm not sure the way they are thinking here, I'd have thought priority number one was definitely a striker, and one who would walk to the club, Ivan Toney, he could fulfil that position."

Links to Chiesa have thankfully already been shut down [Fabrizio Romano], with Toney a potential option to fill the number nine role that is so desperately needed.

Harry Kane has still not been properly replaced, and that surely has to be the absolute priority right now, rather than messing around with more wide players.
