'It is so cruel that this has happened to George Abbott in scenes away from Tottenham'

George Abbott was one of several Tottenham players who were loaned out over the summer.

Most of the Lilywhites’ loan players have had a strong start to the season.

There have been Tottenham demands to recall Tyrese Hall following his stellar performances for Oxford.

Meanwhile, Spurs may refrain from calling back Mikey Moore from Rangers now that Danny Rohl has taken over at Ibrox.

Abbott is considered one of Spurs’ best talents, but has struggled to perform consistently these past couple of seasons.

George Abbott could be out for up to four months

Wycombe Wanderers confirmed that Tottenham defender Abbott could be out for up to four months after sustaining a quad injury while on loan at the League One side.

Abbott impressed at Notts County last season and has been solid for Wycombe since, making 14 appearances so far.

As a result, speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Tottenham expert and Lilywhite Rose owner John Wenham believes this is a "cruel" fate for a player who was doing so well while on loan.

“It’s absolutely killer for him because really nice boy, he comes from a great family,” Wenham said.

“Done so well last year on loan, loved at Notts, now has gone up a division, and he's playing regularly for Wycombe in League One and looking absolutely fine at that level.

“So for him to have suffered a blow like that is so cruel for someone who's making really good progress. Gutted for Abbott and just wish him to speedy recovery and hope he comes back as soon as possible, but he's an outstanding young player.”

How many games could George Abbott miss this season?

Fans have been tuning in to watch Abbott weekly, so there is no doubt most will be keen to learn how long he’ll be sidelined.

  • He has played 836 minutes this season
  • Abbott has netted one goal and has provided one assist

If he is out for a maximum of four months, Abbott should return to the pitch in March at the earliest.

This means that he could return in time for Wycombe’s League One clash against Bolton on 7 March, having missed around 24 games.

While a huge setback for the rising star, he has enough talent to turn his season around upon his return.
