Ian Wright was left fuming at the decision to allow Newcastle attacker Anthony Gordon's goal to stand against Tottenham on Saturday.

The Arsenal legend has called for a change in the rules as the ball clearly hit Joelinton's hand which hindered Spurs' buildup.

This the Magpies scoring en route to a 2-1 victory at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 4 January.

Speaking on Premier League Productions' Matchday Live Extra on 4 January at 8:09 pm: "That's handball for me. I don't care if it's on the side. It's his hand. It's an advantage for them. It shouldn't be an advantage for them. Something must change."

Tottenham will feel hard done by as Joelinton handled the ball

Wright is absolutely spot on about this.

Even if Joelinton didn't do it intentionally, it was clearly a disadvantage for Spurs and as it led to a goal, it should not have stood.

Every season, it's the same case about the application of rules inconsistently and it always depends on how the situation is interpreted.

However, that leaves plenty of room for controversy which is exactly what happened here.

There was plenty to dissect and criticise about Spurs' performance but it will be a bitter pill to swallow for Ange Postecoglou.

His fury at the full-time whistle and in the post-game interview is totally understandable but he's got to quickly turn things around.

Whether or not he will be given more time to do that, remains to be seen.
