Tottenham supporters have been brought back down to earth after a fresh Eberechi Eze update.

Saturday, 16 August, appeared to be going well for Tottenham.

Thomas Frank marked his first Premier League game in charge of Spurs with a 3-0 win over Burnley at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Meanwhile, Tottenham appeared to be closing in on a deal for Eze. However, it seems as though it was all too good to be true, as a twist now emerges in the transfer saga.

Transfer negotiations for Eze have become 'difficult'

Frank was asked about Spurs' pursuit of Eze after the win against Burnley, but the Dane wasn't forthcoming with his answer.

However, reports in the media appeared to suggest that a deal was imminent.

At 7:07 pm on 16 August, The Independent's Miguel Delaney shared via X that an agreement between Tottenham and Crystal Palace for Eze was close for £55million plus add-ons.

However, Delaney returned to X at 8:21 pm to report that "negotiations have become 'difficult' over this evening".

This will understandably leave fans feeling frustrated as they come crashing back down to earth after such a positive day in North London, with the transfer now looking to be at risk of collapsing.

Daniel Levy has no excuses, he needs to get Eze deal done

Daniel Levy isn't the most popular man among the Tottenham faithful, to say the least.

However, if he fails to get a deal agreed for Eze after it appeared as though an agreement was close, with the player already agreeing personal terms and expressing his desire to make the move, discontent toward the Tottenham Chairman could reach an all-time high.

Spurs' spending has been relatively low compared to some of their rivals this summer. As a result, there should be no excuses when it comes to signing Eze. This deal needs to get done.
