Ange Postecoglou has provided an update on Destiny Udogie ahead of the clash between Tottenham and Liverpool on Sunday.

Spurs scraped through to the Carabao Cup semi-final by beating Manchester United 4-3 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday [19 December], with Jamie O'Hara having his say on one controversial moment from the match.

It was a game full of talking points, with the FA set to launch an investigation after what happened in North London. Therefore, it is likely to have taken a lot out of the Spurs players.

However, there is no time for rest, as Postecoglou's side now prepare to welcome Liverpool to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the Premier League on 22 December.

With the club managing an injury crisis so severe that behind-the-scenes dismissals have been mooted as a result, Postecoglou will welcome any boost he can get.

And speaking ahead of the match, the 59-year-old said [via Football London, 20 December], "Timo was unwell yesterday but 48 hours before the game so hopefully he will recover. The plan is Destiny should be ok."

Destiny Udogie to return for Tottenham v Liverpool?

Udogie missed Spurs' clash with United after hobbling off in the 28th minute of the 5-0 Premier League win over Southampton at St Mary's Stadium on Sunday [15 December].

He played well in the opening half an hour on the South Coast, succeeding with 100 per cent of his dribbles, completing 89 per cent of his passes and winning three of his five ground duels [Sofascore].

Therefore, he would hope to return against Liverpool and walk straight back into the starting lineup. However, after the way Djed Spence played against the Reds, Udogie might have his work cut out for him.

Spence made five clearances and two tackles on Thursday while winning 10 duels and playing one key pass, which ended up being an assist for Dominic Solanke as the striker made it 3-0 with his second goal of the game.

It was an impressive display and one which might have Postecoglou carefully considering who should start on Sunday, even if Udogie is fit.
