Ange Postecoglou has decided to start Tottenham defender Djed Spence ahead of Destiny Udogie against Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday.

Spurs will be looking to make it three wins on the bounce against Arne Slot's side at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on 22 December, with Spence keeping his place after his impressive recent form, which has seen him tipped to receive an England call-up.

Despite Udogie being fit enough to return to the matchday squad, the Spurs boss has stuck by Spence in a decision confirmed via the club's official X account [22 December].

Ange Postecoglou sticks by Djed Spence for Tottenham against Liverpool

Udogie last played in the 5-0 Premier League win over Southampton at St Mary's Stadium where he succeeded with 100 per cent of his dribbles, completed 89 per cent of his passes and won three of his five ground duels [Sofascore] before coming off injured in the 28th minute.

Therefore, his inclusion on the bench might be precautionary. However, it could also be as a result of Spence's impressive recent form.

The 24-year-old was labelled "terrific" after his performance against the Saints, with Gabby Agbonlahor also impressed by his display in the 4-3 Carabao Cup win over Manchester United at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday [19 December].

Therefore, he might have simply impressed Postecoglou enough to keep his place, and Udogie might suddenly have a fight on his hands to get back into the Spurs team.
