Darren Bent has hit out at claims that Ange Postecoglou's actions were "disgraceful" after Tamworth versus Tottenham on Sunday.

Spurs were forced into extra time by the National League outfit on 12 January, with a Nathan Tshikuna own goal, and goals from Dejan Kulusevski and Brennan Johnson proving the difference after a goalless 90 minutes.

Postecoglou was hounded throughout the FA Cup clash at The Lamb Ground, with the Lilywhites manager facing increasing pressure at the Hotspur Stadium, but Bent has chosen to defend the Australian.

With one football fan calling out Postecoglou for his "disgraceful" actions live on talkSPORT [13 January, 5:22pm], Bent replied: "Do you know what? After the game, he was quite complimentary of Tamworth, Ange.

"I think he went a shook all the players' hands. He went over to the Tamworth supporters and some of the players went into the home dressing room."

Ange Postecoglou feeling the heat at Tottenham?

Postecoglou certainly has reason to fear for his job in North London, with Daniel Levy already being tipped to pull the trigger as supporters' frustrations begin to grow.

Results have been far from ideal, which the manager will openly admit, with Spurs sitting 12th in the Premier League table, only in the Europa League play-off spots, and nearly being knocked out of the FA Cup.

The Lilywhites, although they avoided defeat against Tamworth, should be embarrassed by their performance at The Lamb Ground, which saw the National League side robbed of a giant-killing.

Before the unexpected 1-0 win over Liverpool, Spurs had not won a game in four attempts, making fans furious at the current form, which was only worsened by the FA Cup display.

Postecoglou is quickly running out of time to persuade supporters that he is the man to take the club forward, but some people are clearly getting the wrong idea about his demeanour following the Tamworth game.
