John Wenham doesn't expect Tottenham to make a move for Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose thinks Johnny Cardoso of Real Betis will be the preferred midfield signing (via Estadio Deportivo, 30 October).

However, Wenham - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - doesn't think there is room for Spurs to sign the 20-year-old.

“I can't really see that happening,” Wenham said.

“I think it is far more likely that the club would opt to sign Cardoso from Real Betis instead, as the holding midfielder signing.

“With Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray both already at the club too, I just can’t see this one.”

Ange Postecoglou keen on Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba at Tottenham

Baleba has made an impression since he arrived in the Premier League. Therefore, it is no surprise that Postecoglou has taken notice of the youngster.

However, the Seagulls aren't under any pressure to sell the Cameroonian, which could make a transfer difficult.

In addition, they are unlikely to want to let their talented young midfielder join a direct Premier League rival. As a result, Postecoglou might not get his wish.

Luckily, it seems as though Cardoso is there for the taking should Postecoglou greenlight a transfer at Spurs.
