Ange Postecoglou must ensure he doesn't overlook Tottenham Under-21 sensation Tyrese Hall after the midfielder's recent goalscoring heroics.

The Australian has plenty of talented midfielders at his disposal in North London.

Therefore, first-team opportunities in the Premier League might be difficult to come by for Hall. However, that is not to say that he can't be handed opportunities in other competitions.

And his recent display for Spurs' Under-21s demonstrates that he is certainly deserving of said opportunities.

Ange Postecoglou to hand Tyrese Hall first-team minutes at Tottenham?

Spurs got their Premier League 2 title defence kickstarted with a 2-1 win away against Chelsea's Under-21s on Friday (16 August).

It was the perfect start to the 2024/25 season, and Wayne Burnett had Hall to thank for the three points.

Ato Ampah put the hosts ahead after just 11 minutes, but Hall - playing in a much-changed Under-21s team from last season - scored two goals either side of half-time to ensure an opening-day victory for Spurs.

His first came as a result of a short corner routine, the midfielder linking up with Damola Ajayi before seeing his shot from the edge of the box deflect inside the near-post.

And moments after the break he put Tottenham ahead, with the 18-year-old well-positioned to divert Travis Akomeah's attempted clearance high inside the near post.

Postecoglou has already had a chance to see what Hall is capable of during Spurs' pre-season tour this summer, and the Australian will no doubt be impressed by the start the youngster has made to the campaign.

With UEFA Europa League football on the agenda, the European competition could offer Hall the perfect chance to get some first-team minutes under his belt at Tottenham.

And as a result of footage emerging which appeared to show midfielder Yves Bissouma inhaling laughing gas, which has seen him handed a suspension by Tottenham (Sky Sports News, 15 August), there could be an opening for Hall to make a well-earned first-team push this season.
