Fabrizio Romano has revealed there are "no substantial updates" regarding Tottenham sacking Ange Postecoglou.

The renowned journalist disclosed on 20 January that injuries are still seen as one of the significant factors why the Australian manager has struggled in N17.

Spurs are currently 15th in the Premier League table after losing 3-2 to Everton at Goodison Park on Sunday (19 January).

Romano wrote in his Give Me Sport newsletter (20 January): "At the moment, no substantial updates on Ange Postecoglou's position.

"Let's see what happens in the next few days but injuries are considered a massive issue and one of the reasons why Spurs' plan is currently not working."

Ange Postecoglou sack possible at Tottenham

Postecoglou could be fired at the North London outfit if things continue to get worse.

The former Celtic head coach has failed to bring the best out of his squad in the current campaign, losing five of his last six fixtures in the English top flight.

Given their current situation, Tottenham are unlikely to earn a European spot in the Premier League table.

The Europa League now seems like the only chance the Lilywhites have of securing Champions League football for next season.

Postecoglou has the chance to win multiple trophies still, beating Liverpool 1-0 in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final on 8 January.

The Australian manager must find a solution to Spurs' defensive frailties before the second leg against the Reds on 6 February.

It wouldn't be surprising to see Daniel Levy pull the plug at Tottenham, though, as Jose Mourinho lost his job before the Carabao Cup final in 2021.

The Spurs faithful are starting to lose patience with the 59-year-old head coach despite the injury issues in the squad.
