Dan Bardell believes Alfie Devine will gain positive experience to benefit his career after joining Westerlo from Tottenham on loan.

Spurs confirmed the 20-year-old's season-long loan move to the Belgian Pro League on 5 September.

The England youth international spent the second half of last season with Plymouth Argyle in the Championship.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks that a move abroad, as opposed to the EFL, will benefit Devine in the future.

Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News, Bardell said: "I think the Belgian league is a good quality league and we're seeing more and more talent go over there.

"I think it's a decent move for him to get regular minutes and experience a different type of football which will bode well for the rest of his career.

"It's a positive move for all parties."

The youngster is highly rated in North London but with the quality available to Ange Postecoglou his game time was going to be seriously limited.

Yves Bissouma, Rodrigo Bentencaur and Pape Sarr are likely to be regular starters throughout the campaign.

These will be supplemented by Lucas Bergvall and Archie Gray who joined up with the squad over the summer.

Devine has qualities that could prove to be useful in the future but needs to go out on loan and prove himself as a regular starter with a positive impact.

If he can do that in Belgium then Postecoglou may have a decision to make after the season is over.
