John Wenham still expects goalkeeper Aaron Maguire to leave Tottenham at the end of the season.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose thinks competition for a place between the sticks is too fierce in North London.

Maguire recently earned his first call-up to the Republic of Ireland Under-21s squad for the November international break.

However, Wenham - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - doesn't think this will be enough for the 20-year-old to earn a new contract at Spurs.

"Maguire's call-up was a bit of a surprise for me," Wenham said.

"However, I am pleased for him, nonetheless. I do still expect that he will leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires.

"He just has too many goalkeepers in front of him at the club. However, this call-up will be good for his future prospects as a professional footballer.”

Aaron Maguire to leave Tottenham at the end of the season?

It seems as though whatever Maguire does between now and the end of the season, for club or country, his Spurs future is already decided.

Therefore, despite his recent "heroics", it seems as though Maguire is fighting a losing battle in North London, with Ange Postecoglou unlikely to take much notice of the youngster.

However, as long as he is still a Spurs player, and perhaps even after, fans are still likely to wish the shot-stopper well and celebrate his successes.
