Darren Bent is hugely concerned after hearing Tottenham defender Micky van de Ven has suffered another hamstring injury.

Ange Postecoglou confirmed the 23-year-old sustained a new hamstring problem during Spurs' 2-1 win over Manchester City in the EFL Cup on Wednesday 30 October [The Standard].

The Dutchman managed just 14 minutes on the pitch before being replaced by Destiny Udogie, a moment which has caused concerns over the player's injury record in North London so far.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Thursday (31 October, 4:19pm), Bent said: "It has to be a concern. It must be. How many is that now? He must've had about four now. That's a worry."

Andy Goldstein added: "He's so dependent on pace as well, isn't he?"

In reply, Bent said: "So dependent."

Micky van de Ven concerns emerge after latest Tottenham development

Given the uncertainties over Radu Dragusin so far, Postecoglou only really has Van de Ven and Cristian Romero to rely on in the centre of defence.

Archie Gray and Ben Davies have both been utilised at centre-back by the manager instead of trusting Dragusin, though he may not have much of a choice if the new injury is a serious one.

Van de Ven has already missed 18 matches since arriving in North London last summer, and while he is an extremely key member of the starting XI, it is becoming more difficult to rely on him.

Spurs are competing in the Premier League, Europa League and EFL Cup, and with the FA Cup still to start, Postecoglou might be struggling for options across several competitions this season.

A new centre-back signing has already been mooted ahead of the January transfer window. Many fans are expecting a brand-new face to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium but it remains to be seen if this will happen.
