Cristian Romero injury update shared after Tottenham loss to Fulham
Tottenham fans will have baited breath over the international break after Cristian Romero's return from a long-term injury.
Romero is set to depart Spurs on international duty with Argentina just three games after his comeback earlier this month, having made his first Lilywhites appearances since early December in recent weeks.
Argentina, however, called upon their World Cup-winning 26-year-old for their fixtures against Uruguay and Brazil before he had even made his return from injury, sparking fury from the Tottenham fanbase.
With three games and 219 minutes under his belt within the last nine days though, Romero is back up to speed despite Tottenham's form continuing to falter, which is good news for his international prospects.
Romero to have minutes managed after Tottenham return
Romero's importance in the Tottenham backline – particularly one which has been so disrupted due to injuries this season – has been underlined since his comeback, starting all three games he's been fit for.

Similarly, Argentina see Romero as arguably their best centre-back, but Argentine journalist Gaston Edul posted on X (16 March) to report that Albiceleste boss Lionel Scaloni will be managing his minutes.
Edul said: "Romero is not injured. It was rumoured he would play 60 minutes, as he played three games in ten days after months of inactivity. He will soon travel to Argentina to join the national team."

Given Romero has only just returned from a three-month lay-off which coincided with Tottenham's form falling off a cliff, Spurs fans will hope that no further setbacks are suffered on international duty.
Romero picking up an injury with Argentina – whose matches against Uruguay and Brazil will be played with plenty on the line and plenty of physicality – would arguably send Tottenham back to square one.
Spurs' defensive injury crisis has been underlined by the fact that Romero's three games back have seen him play alongside three different centre-back partners; Kevin Danso, Micky van de Ven and Ben Davies.
Romero being withdrawn 68 minutes into Tottenham's 2-0 defeat to Fulham on Sunday may only have been a precaution, but it's also another sign that further injury problems could be just around the corner.
