Ange Postecoglou has provided a concerning injury update on Cristian Romero at Tottenham.

Spurs got back to winning ways as they secured qualification to the next round of the UEFA Europa League on Thursday (30 January) after a 3-0 win against IF Elfsborg at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Micky van de Ven handed Postecoglou a boost by returning to the starting lineup, although some supporters suggested it was a "sackable" offence to throw the Dutchman straight back in.

However, Postecoglou will just be glad to have the centre-back available again, especially as it doesn't look like Romero will be returning anytime soon, which is a concern.

Speaking ahead of the Premier League clash with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium on Sunday (2 February), Postecoglou said [via Football London, 31 January], "Romero is a tricky one.

"[With Romero] it's just a slow healer, looking at on a week-to-week basis. He's been out a while, it's just taking time."

Spurs' injury crisis shows no signs of letting up. Just as they saw van de Ven return to the team, another defender has now been ruled out of the clash with the Bees on Sunday.

Postecoglou will wonder what he has done to deserve this kind of luck. However, in football, there is no time to feel sorry for yourself as the games come thick and fast.

Therefore, Tottenham must get on with things, and if Romero isn't going to be a part of their matches coming up, they need to find a way around that.

Spurs have some huge games on the horizon, with Carabao Cup and FA Cup clashes to come, and considering their league position, Postecoglou's Tottenham fate might depend on these competitions.

Therefore, Spurs need to win, with or without Romero.
