Ange Postecoglou faces an anxious wait over Tottenham defender Ben Davies.

Spurs were beaten 1-0 by Bournemouth in the Premier League at the Vitality Stadium on Thursday [5 December], a result which left Jamie O'Hara fuming.

It is now three matches without a win for the North London side, and just one win in their last six.

Therefore, the Premier League clash with Chelsea at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday [8 December] suddenly feels bigger than ever.

A defeat could see things start to turn ugly in North London, while victory could be the catalyst for a turnaround under Postecoglou.

However, after the most recent injury update, it is hard to see how Spurs pick up three points against the Blues, who are flying high and second in the Premier League.

While speaking ahead of the clash with Chelsea [via Football London, 6 December], Postecoglou said, "Ben [Davies] too early again [to tell], he'll go for a scan today. Cuti [Cristian Romero] is due to train, we're not doing much today but we'll see tomorrow.'

Ben Davies to miss out for Tottenham against Chelsea?

It doesn't sound as though Davies will feature against Chelsea after the Welshman appeared to pick up a hamstring injury against Bournemouth.

Against the Cherries, the 31-year-old completed 91 per cent of his passes, made one clearance and blocked one shot. However, he also won just one of his three ground duels and 50 per cent of his aerial duels (three out of six).

Davies also gave possession away three times and committed two fouls, picking up a booking after just four minutes. However, while it wasn't his finest display, Davies is about all Spurs have at the moment.

Therefore, Romero will be needed now more than ever, with Radu Drăgușin the only fit remaining senior centre-back. However, the Argentine hasn't played for Spurs for almost a month.

As a result, he is bound to be rusty, and Chelsea will no doubt be licking their lips at Spurs' defensive woes.
