Tottenham will be swimming in cash as new £60m-a-year calculation emerges

Daniel Levy could be set for an annual £60million cash boost at Tottenham after a recent reveal.

Revenue at Spurs is only going in one direction at the moment, and that is up.

Tottenham recently posted their financial results for the year ending June 30 2023 (Tottenham Hotspur Official Website, 3 April) which revealed that the club’s total revenue for the year had increased by 24 per cent, up to £549.6million.

That figure is largely down to the impact of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and it appears that Spurs’ 62,000-plus seater ground is only set to become even more lucrative over the coming years.

Of the £549.6million in revenue which Spurs generated last year, the biggest chunk of that pie was the club’s commercial earnings, which stood at £227.7million.

Those earnings came from a variety of things, including third-party events such as concerts and NFL matches, with Tottenham currently having permission to host 16 of those a year in N17.

A recent application was submitted to Haringey Council to increase that total to 30, and that could lead to Spurs’ commercial revenue reaching eye-watering amounts according to football finance expert Kieran Maguire.

Speaking on The Price of Football podcast (25 April), Maguire said, “If they (Spurs) are hosting an event, they are able to go and charge a hosting fee that’s likely to be seven figures.

“We know that Spurs make around £1million a match gross from football matches which are taking place at the stadium. Well, if you have a concert which is taking place there, you’re going to have normally three or four support acts.

“So therefore people are going to be there instead of two to two-and-a-half hours, they’re likely to be there for around six hours, so you can see that the catering income is going to go up.

“I think there is the opportunity for Spurs to make potentially £1.5million perhaps £2million per event.”

Daniel Levy set for enormous annual cash boost at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

If Maguire’s calculations are to be believed, and Spurs do go ahead and host 30 non-football events per year at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, that could lead to an annual boost of £60million.

That is an incredible amount of money and would represent another example of Levy doing everything possible to generate as much cash as he physically can with Tottenham.

Considering the club’s commercial earnings were £227.7million last year with the permission to host 16 non-football events, should that total almost double to 30, it is safe to assume that the club’s commercial earnings could break the £400million barrier.

That could see Spurs move on par with some of the highest revenue-generating clubs in Europe, and if that money is to be properly reinvested into the playing squad, the possibilities in North London could be limitless.
