Tottenham to miss out on £20bn jackpot as new takeover paperwork emerges
The Lewis family have repeatedly maintained the stance that Tottenham are not for sale.
However, since Daniel Levy’s headline departure, Tottenham have garnered interest from many different consortiums regarding a takeover of the North London club.
Joe Lewis stepped down as Tottenham owner in 2022, with the majority ownership now held under his family trust.
Brooklyn Earick was interested in a multi-billion Tottenham takeover recently, but paperwork on 6 October confirmed that it would not go further.

Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert was set to back Brooklyn Earick
Earick had lined up several proposed backers, including billionaire Dan Gilbert.
The Sun reported in its print edition on 7 October that Gilbert, the owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers basketball team, has an estimated fortune of £20billion.
However, it is thought that Gilbert got cold feet about the proposal at the last minute.
- According to Forbes, Gilbert is the 88th richest person in the world
- He owns sports teams in the NBA and the American Hockey League (AHL)
- He has never been involved in the investment of a sports team in England
Earick’s takeover would have been a record £4.5billion fee, making Spurs the second-most expensive club in the Premier League after Manchester United.
Tottenham also have interest from Amanda Stavely’s PIF group, among several different US and Qatari-backed consortiums that all want to move into the world of football.
Despite insisting the club isn’t for sale, Tottenham have been looking out for new investors.

Spurs supporters have had enough of the current regime, but change doesn’t appear close.

Tottenham fans have wanted the Lewis family out for years
Spurs fans have always been striving to see ambition from their owners, yet over the years, they’ve never felt that the Lewis family and Levy have put enough investment into competing with their rivals.
After reaching the Champions League final in 2019, the recruitment did not build on the Lilywhites’ success in Europe, and Mauricio Pochettino was sacked by November.
The construction of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium set Spurs back over £1billion, and whilst fans can watch their team in one of the best grounds in the world, serious success is yet to follow on-pitch.
The lack of consistent silverware in N17 over the past 25 years has left Spurs fans praying that a takeover could materialise, yet the signs so far show that the Lewis will continue to maintain full control of Tottenham.
Either way, they appear to have missed out on Gilbert’s fortune.
