Sheikh Jassim is in no rush to purchase a Premier League club amid reported interest in Tottenham, according to the Mail Online.

The British news outlet reported via its online edition [25 December] that Jassim is happy to bide his time, having previously failed in his attempt to purchase a stake in Manchester United.

Jassim has been credited with an interest in Tottenham [The Mirror], with the North London outfit said to be willing to listen to any offers.

Amanda Staveley, previously on the board at Newcastle United, has recently been credited with wanting to acquire a stake in Spurs after holding talks with chairman Daniel Levy [Daily Mail].

Tottenham takeover has a while to go yet

There has been plenty of talk in recent weeks and months of a potential takeover at Spurs, but there has yet to be anything concrete.

Sheikh Jassim's name is one that would have got supporters excited given his worth and the fact he also desperately wanted to buy Manchester United.

Given this latest update, though, it is clear there is nothing close to happening - if it all - with Staveley also seemingly setting her sights elsewhere.

Tottenham fans want to see new investment, which would mean more money spent on players at a time when new recruits are desperately needed.

Levy has been a polarising figure during his time as Tottenham chairman, but he could redeem himself if he can find new billionaire backers to come on board.
