Tottenham: New stadium application could see boost to £227m+ income
Tottenham have submitted a new application to Haringey Council to increase the number of non-football events that can be held at their stadium each year, according to Football London.
As it stands, Spurs are permitted to host 16 non-football events, a number which would rise to 30 if the council accepts their planning application.
The club released their official financial accounts for the year ending June 2023 on 3 April, detailing that they had received £227.7million in commercial revenue over the financial year.
Commercial revenue received by the club comes from sources including sponsorship, merchandising and third-party events which have become a notable feature of the stadium.
A large chunk of that revenue came from the 16 non-football events which can be hosted at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium each year, so the possibility of hosting almost double that number could see a notable increase in commercial revenue.
What events will Tottenham Hotspur Stadium host
Having already played host to concerts from the likes of Beyonce and the Red Hot Chilli Peppers, as well as boxing events such as Anthony Joshua v Oleksandr Usyk and several NFL games, the club are now looking to expand their availability to host more events.
Commercial opportunities of this type can be hugely beneficial to the club’s finances, as proved in their latest accounts, bringing in revenue from ticket sales, food and drink and initial payments to agree to host the events.
Several Premier League clubs have experienced problems with profit and sustainability rules in recent months, but Spurs have been able to stay within the restrictions largely due to their commercial revenue – something this change would only increase.

So far, 128 events have been held at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since its opening, and it is said that the club’s plans for growth in the community are limited by the 16-event restriction currently in place.
It is also explained that this does not mean the stadium will play host to 30 non-football events every year – largely due to the length of the football season – but the possibility to expand would give them the opportunity to host as many as possible.
