Tottenham supporters have been clamouring for new ownership for years and a recent development involving Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will have certainly caught their attention.

Last season it was a struggle to find a post across the club's social media channels which wasn't plastered by comments reading "ENIC out" or "Levy out." Fans in north London are clearly not the biggest admirers of Tottenham's current ownership structure.

All of that noise has gone ever so quiet this season due to the impressive start Ange Postecoglou has made to life in the Premier League providing a distraction, although with January around the corner, a failure to back the widely popular Australian could see the return of the ENIC out brigade.

That is why it is fitting that rumours around the club's ownership status are beginning to swirl again as the transfer window draws nearer, and this time, it is Jones who is at the centre of the speculation storm.

As per City Spy via The Evening Standard (19 November), "Staff of billionaire Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones rode into town on his mega-yacht and parked up at Butler’s Wharf earlier this month. Around the same time, the 81-year-old's private jet landed at Stansted, which just happens to be the nearest airport to Tottenham."

While on the surface this might not seem like much to get excited by, the report goes on to explain that both spokespeople from Jones and Tottenham declined to comment on the reason for his visit, with Spurs' refusal to answer whether or not club executives had met with the billionaire, particularly odd.

NFL owners are no strangers to the Premier League, with LA Rams owner Stan Kroenke also the owner of Tottenham's north London rivals Arsenal, while the Tampa Bay Buccaneers owners, the Glazer family, own Manchester United.

Jones could therefore be looking to become the latest NFL owner to take a stake in a Premier League side and rival his American counterparts in their pursuits across the Atlantic Ocean.

Spurs' partnership with the NFL will only add fuel to this fire, and their positive relationship with the franchise could make any potential takeover with someone involved in the league's interests much smoother.

Whether these rumours or speculations will amount to anything, only time will tell, but as the old saying goes, there is no smoke without fire.
