Tottenham continue to set example for Premier League clubs amid £212m financial development
Tottenham continues to set an example for their fellow Premier League clubs after a £212million reveal on all-time profits.
Speaking on The Price of Football podcast on Thursday (11 April), Kieran Maguire revealed that the infrastructure spend for the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is £72million a year, compared to the £3million their London rivals West Ham pay per season in rent at the London Stadium.
Despite Spurs’ losses reaching £86.8million during the latest financial year, the football finance expert said they are still the biggest profit-making club in Premier League history, with their £212million worth of profit being slightly higher than Arsenal at £201million.
“That £72million infrastructure spend for a 60,000-capacity stadium, that contrasts with West Ham, who are spending £3million on rent on a capacity stadium which is broadly the same,” said Maguire.
“Although Spurs did lose a load of money, they are still top of the all-time profit-making clubs in Premier League history. The gap between themselves and Arsenal has narrowed, but Spurs are at +£212million and Arsenal are second at +£201million.”
Those figures will delight Daniel Levy as it’s a tribute to all the hard work that has gone on behind the scenes at Tottenham in recent years.
While there was a huge outlay on their £1billion stadium, they have – and continue to – maximise the revenue they can generate from their state-of-the-art facility.

They earn more than £105million per year in match-day income and have also benefited from hosting music concerts, NFL and rugby matches at their stadium.
That isn’t something the likes of West Ham can do as they don’t own their ground, hence why they pay just £3million in rent a year.
The extra cash Tottenham generates off the pitch helps them stay within the stringent profit and sustainability rules (PSR), while also providing funds to strengthen matters on the field.

But the fans would certainly like to see their strong financial performances translate into more success in terms of trophies.
After all, what’s the point in being the biggest profit-maker in the Premier League if you don’t actually win anything?
That is something Spurs’ hierarchy will be looking to change as the club continues to build behind the scenes.
In other Tottenham news, Daniel Levy will be breathing a sigh of relief after a PSR development has emerged.
