Tottenham: Champions League qualification crucial as £549.6million news emerges
Tottenham have announced their financial accounts for the year ending June 2023 as they saw an increase in their total revenue to £549.6million.
In the statement shared via the official Tottenham website [3 April], Spurs announced an increase in revenue across key factors such as match receipts, UEFA prize money, TV and Media revenue and commercial revenue.
As per the records, the club’s UEFA prize money rocketed from £10.2million in 2022 to £56.2million in 2023, highlighting the difference between a group-stage exit from the Europa Conference League (albeit impacted by COVID-19) and reaching the Champions League round of 16.
With Champions League qualification still up for grabs, it has become clear why pipping both Aston Villa and Manchester United to fourth place would be such a huge bonus on and off the pitch.
Tottenham must achieve Champions League qualification this season
Spurs currently sit fifth in the Premier League after their 1-1 draw against West Ham, two points behind Aston Villa in fourth who also boast superior goal difference which has put them in a strong position.
With just eight games left to play, it has become key that Ange Postecoglou and his team put a winning run together and gain as many points as possible to make a late charge towards the top four.
However with Newcastle, Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal all left to play, it could prove a tough ask to win as many points as they may need.
The impact of Champions League qualification will be felt both on and off the pitch, as it will prove a huge benefit to the club financially not just through prize money but also television revenue and exposure.
Meanwhile, being in the biggest and most coveted tournament in world football will inspire potential new signings to make the move, with the Champions League always a huge factor.

Premier League clubs’ finances have been under heavy scrutiny this season, with points deductions handed to both Everton and Nottingham Forest while all eyes remain on Chelsea and Manchester City, but Spurs have managed to avoid any issues.
Qualification for the Champions League next season would prove hugely beneficial to that financial situation and further extend the margin of safety Daniel Levy has achieved away from FFP issues.
It has become the focus of this season both on and off the field for Spurs, and they must do everything in their power to get it done.
