Bryan King claims Tottenham need to be targeting players such as Aston Villa's Jacob Ramsey.

The ex-Spurs scout thinks Ange Postecoglou could help the 23-year-old continue his development.

As reported by Give Me Sport (9 October), Tottenham, Arsenal and Newcastle United are all said to be interested in Ramsey, who Villa would value at £50million.

And King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - believes this profile of player could help Spurs move up a level.

"We're talking about a top-level player here," King said.

"Who else are Spurs looking at? Who else could be available? It needs to be this standard of player, this quality of player.

"They can't be messing around in the Championship. If they want to be big then they have got to look big.

"This is a talented player who can continue to develop under Postecoglou. Arsenal and Newcastle are mentioned, if Ramsey is to be sold, his agent will want a bidding war."

Tottenham to sign Jacob Ramsey ahead of Arsenal and Newcastle United?

This isn't the first time Spurs have been linked with a move for Ramsey.

During the summer transfer window, Fabrizio Romano reported via Playback (22 July), that Postecoglou's side were interested in signing the Villa ace as part of a player-plus-cash deal involving Giovani Lo Celso.

Therefore, it is clear to see that this interest is long-standing. As a result, it wouldn't be a surprise to see Tottenham make a move.

However, whether they would be able to fend off interest from Arsenal and Newcastle is a different story.

Therefore, Spurs should do whatever they can to try and make a move happen. They already have several talented youngsters in North London, and Ramsey would only add to that.
