Tottenham and Daniel Levy set for lucrative payday after announcement on Monday

Tottenham are set to take advantage of Ange Postecoglou’s links to Australia with a post-season visit Down Under which could prove very lucrative for Daniel Levy and the club.

While some of the Premier League’s other clubs will be relaxing and reflecting on the season just finished, Tottenham will once again be on the move as Levy gets set to take advantage of another financial opportunity.

That is because it was announced on Monday (via Tottenham Hotspur’s Official Website, 18 March), that Postecoglou and his players will be travelling to Melbourne, Australia for a post-season visit, which will be capped off by a friendly against Newcastle United.

Their clash with the Magpies will take place at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Wednesday 22 May, just three days after their final Premier League fixture is scheduled to take place at Bramall Lane against Sheffield United (19 May).

Spurs’ visit is part of Global Football Week in Melbourne and will mark their first trip to the MCG since their pre-season clashes with Juventus and Atletico Madrid in 2016.

For Postecoglou, it will make a return to his home city which is likely to attract a very healthy crowd, which could prove to be incredibly beneficial for Levy and Tottenham from a financial point of view.

How much do Tottenham and Daniel Levy stand to gain from Ange Postecoglou’s visit to Australia?

Postecoglou took charge of Spurs for the first time in Perth last summer during a pre-season clash with West Ham United.

It looks as if Levy once again wants to take advantage of the Australian market due to his manager’s connections with his home country.

As part of their visit, Tottenham’s Global Football Development Team will be holding training sessions for some aspiring young footballers in Melbourne, but the showpiece attraction will be their clash with Eddie Howe’s side at the MCG.

Postecoglou’s return to Melbourne is likely to attract a large crowd to the iconic stadium, which can hold up to 100,000 spectators.

Tottenham announced that tickets would be priced at £30 per person, and with the potential number of people set to flock to the MCG, that could lead to a very big payday for Levy and Tottenham.

A sell-out crowd could raise up to £3million, and that is before sales of any food, drink or merchandise are taken into consideration.

Even if the fixture doesn’t attract a sell-out crowd, the broadcast revenue for the fixture is also likely to bring financial benefits of its own, and Spurs will also be presented with plenty of opportunities to raise some cash while Down Under.
