Matheus Cunha would demand "big money" if he were to join Tottenham from Wolves.

As reported by GiveMeSport (11 January), Cuhna's new Wolves contract includes a £45million release clause which would become active should Vítor Pereira's side be relegated from the Premier League.

Considering previous suggestions that the Brazillian could cost as much as £70million, this would no doubt be viewed as good value for money.

However, ex-Spurs scout Bryan King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - believes Daniel Levy would need to pay Cunha big wages if he wanted to lure him to North London.

"I think Tottenham are quite strong in the forward areas," King said.

"Cunha might be somebody that they're looking at. However, I couldn't see the point in Spurs signing him, unless they're going to let some players go.

"And he is going to want decent wages, and when I say decent wages I mean big money wages."

Matheus Cunha to demand big money at Tottenham?

Spending £45million on Cunha is a no-brainer based on the 25-year-old's form this season. However, should he become available for that price, there would no doubt be a host of clubs in for him.

As a result, it would likely then become about which club is willing to pay him the most money.

And that is not a good thing for Spurs. Daniel Levy is known to operate a tight budget compared to some of the club's rivals when it comes to player wages - something the Spurs chairman has been urged to change.

Therefore, even if Cunha does become available for £45million, it is unlikely that Spurs will sign him.
