Daniel Levy is on a roll in the summer market, and Connor Gallagher could be the next player to arrive at Tottenham.

Gallagher had a season of ups and downs after signing a five-year deal with Atletico Madrid last summer.

The former Chelsea star started for the Spanish club during his first few months before slipping down the ranks into a peripheral role.

Given that the Englishman is approaching his prime years, he will be eager to cement himself in the starting lineup no matter the club. As a result, a return to London could be on the cards.

As reported by Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo on Friday (11 July), Gallagher is one of the players Atletico Madrid are willing to hear offers for this summer.

Tottenham are attentive to the situation, having already had the midfielder on their radar the season prior. However, his previous affiliation with Chelsea could complicate matters due to the existing rivalry.

Despite this, Levy has shown he is willing to go the extra mile to sign players this summer.

Indeed, he broke the mould when Mohammed Kudus became the first player to move between Spurs and West Ham since Scott Parker in 2011. He went even further by securing him for £30million less than his reported £85m release clause.

As a result, there is no reason to suggest that the Tottenham chairman could not convince Gallagher to join the club.

Tottenham do not need Gallagher

Tottenham do not need to sign Gallagher this summer.

Squad depth is important when competing in the UEFA Champions League. However, there comes a point where too many players can create an imbalance at the club.

The Atletico midfielder is likely already hoping to become a starter at his next club and could struggle to fight for his spot at Spurs. The last thing Spurs need heading into next season is unmotivated players.

Therefore, Tottenham should think things through before approaching Gallagher.
