Daniel Levy fingerprints everywhere as Tottenham in line for mega Super Bowl payout

Daniel Levy may have recently left his role as chairman, but his sway at Tottenham will be felt for many more years to come.

While Levy was not exactly universally loved at Tottenham, he deserves praise for many aspects of his work – not least the construction of the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Tottenham‘s stadium is one of – some would say the – best stadiums in the entire world and is capable of staging events away from football.

Post Malone staged a couple of concerts at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium last month, while other big names have also done so, helping to bring millions into the club.

NFL remains a regular stream of income to Spurs, with Minnesota Vikings taking on the Cleveland Browns over the weekend in the 11th regular-season match to be staged there already.

And it may well be that Spurs hosts the biggest American Football game of them all before long.

Tottenham backed to stage Super Bowl in next five years

The Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is the only purpose-built NFL stadium outside of the United States, which is something Levy was conscious about ahead of the construction beginning.

Indeed, speaking in 2016, Levy said an NFL franchise could one day be based at Tottenham’s state-of-the-art stadium.

More recently, it was suggested a new base could be built for the Jacksonville Jaguars by Tottenham.

We would welcome very much close co-operation with the NFL and a dedicated team,” Levy said in an interview with ESPN.

“Obviously a decision is entirely theirs whether they do bring a team to the UK, and where it would be located is something that would be talked about, but yes, we would very much welcome that scenario.”

While an NFL franchise is not yet based in North London, Spurs could soon be about to stage the biggest showdown of them all – the Super Bowl.

Asked by Sky Sports if that event could be staged at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, Super Bowl winner Ndamukong Suh said: “Without question.

“There’s no doubt in my mind that’s on the table, and I would be willing to be bet in the next five years it happens. The world is their oyster where games go.”

Super Bowl at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium would be massive cash cow

As per research by NC State University, the Super Bowl raises upwards of $300million (£224m) each year, although not all that would go in Spurs’ pockets, of course.

While solid figures are hard to obtain, the 2015 Super Bowl is said to have raised just shy of £1m for Glendale, Arizona.

Spurs, should they indeed host the Super Bowl, would profit from ticket sales – which can go for eye-watering amounts – merchandise and indeed food and drink.

The NFL would take a cut of the profits, but Spurs would benefit nicely. And should that day ever come, Levy would be the man to thanks for having the foresight all those years ago.
