Bryan King believes Ben Davies could "suffer" at Tottenham amid a £25million transfer update.

The ex-Spurs scout feels that the North London side could be looking to replace the 31-year-old.

It comes after a report in The Sun (6 June) revealed that Tottenham are interested in Stuttgart and Japan defender Hiroki Ito.

Ito can play both as a centre-back and left-back with his release clause believed to be somewhere between £21.5 and £25million.

And King - speaking exclusively to Tottenham News - claims Davies might be looking over his shoulder.

“Postecoglou had Japanese players at Celtic too,” King said.

“The player who would suffer if that deal went through would be Davies.

“Perhaps this player is being lined up as a replacement for him.”

Could Tottenham replace Ben Davies with Hiroki Ito?

Postecoglou is knowledgeable when it comes to Japanese players.

The Australian previously managed in Japan and will be well aware of quality players from that market.

Davies isn't getting any younger, and it would make sense if Spurs were eyeing a long-term replacement for him.

Ito is a versatile player who could be available for a decent fee.

And considering Postecoglou's history with Japanese players, as well as the price and versatility mentioned, this feels like one to watch.
